The eight submission rules
- No vocalist names in the body of the lyrics.
- No extra text — section labels, social links and self-promotion lines are removed.
- Repeats written out — never "Chorus 2x", always the lines spelled out.
- Capitalized lines — every line begins with a capital letter.
- No end punctuation — no periods, commas or quotes at the end of a line.
- Blank lines only between sections — never stacked, never at the edges.
- One sentence per line — avoid excessively long run-on lines.
- Uncensored explicit words — unless the word is actually bleeped in the recording.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to capitalize the first letter of every lyric line?
Yes. For the Linecheck submission spec, every lyric line starts with a capital letter regardless of grammar. Linecheck auto-capitalizes lowercase starts and flags the rest.
Should I remove [Verse], [Chorus] and other section labels?
Yes. The spec treats section markers, intro/chorus labels and bracketed stage directions as extra text. They are stripped automatically.
How should censored swear words be entered?
Write the word as it's sung in the recording. Only censor if the word is actually bleeped in the audio. Linecheck warns on censored patterns so you can verify against the recording.
Is my text private?
Yes. Text is saved only to your browser's localStorage and audio is held in memory for the session. Nothing is uploaded to any server.
Can I use audio to cross-check the transcript?
Yes. Linecheck lets you upload or record a reference audio file and play it back with a waveform scrubber so you can verify bleeps, names and section labels.
